Jefferson National Takes Top Honors for Third Time in Two Months
Innovator of First Flat-Insurance Fee VA Wins Platinum and Gold MarCom Awards, Interactive Media Award and WebAward
New York, NY and Louisville, KY - November 18, 2009 - For the third time in two months Jefferson National, known as the innovator of the industry's first flat-insurance fee variable annuity1, has taken top honors by winning the 2009 MarCom Platinum Award for Excellence in Advertising and MarCom Gold Award for Website Copywriting, as well earning "Outstanding Achievement Award" in the Financial Services Category of the 2009 Interactive Media Awards and "Outstanding Website" in the Financial Services Category of the Web Marketing Association's 13th Annual WebAwards.

This year's MarCom competition, sponsored by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), evaluated more than 5,000 entrants from the United States and around the world. According to the AMCP, judges "look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of industry excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry."
Jefferson National won the MarCom's highest honor, the Platinum Award, for an integrated advertising and marketing campaign highlighting "The Ultimate Retirement Vehicle," a no-load, tax-deferred Flat-Insurance Fee VA that has been "Ergonomically designed for your model retirement. It brings variable annuities back to what they should have been all along: low cost tax-deferral and more investment options." Jefferson National's website won the MarCom's Gold Award for copywriting centered on "MAX: Monument Advisor Express" a suite of unique, unbiased, data-driven tools for advisors and their clients, including an "Annuity Rescue Calculator" and a calculator that allows users to "Test the True Value of Tax Deferral."
The Interactive Media Awards is an international competition sponsored by the Interactive Media Council (IMC) to recognize the highest standards of excellence in Website Design and Development. According to the IMC, our judges "are always on the hunt for jaw-dropping perfection."
Jefferson National's "MAX" website won the Interactive Media Award's "Outstanding Achievement Award" by earning top scores for Content, Design, Feature Functionality, Usability, Standards Compliance and Cross-Browser Compatibility. According to the IMC, Jefferson National's website "has excelled in all areas of our judging criteria and represents a very high standard of planning, execution and overall professionalism." There were 65 entries submitted from around the world in the "Financial Services" category and the 9 winners announced include Jefferson National, Fidelity, John Hancock, Bonus Network (Turkey), Commonwealth Bank (Australia), JLT Business Insurance (UK), Standard Chartered Bank (UK), Wonga (UK) and Van Der Moolen (Netherlands).
The 13th annual WebAward Competition is sponsored by the Web Marketing Association to create a high standard of excellence for Web site development and marketing on the Internet.
Jefferson National won "Outstanding Website" by surpassing both the Financial Services Industry average and the "WebAwards" average across all seven criteria, including design, innovation, content, use of technology, ease of use and a "Perfect 10" for interactivity and copywriting. Only four other entrants were named "Outstanding Website" in the Financial Services Category: BusinessWeek.com, Schwab MoneyWise, Garanti Bank and John Hancock Retirement Income & Rollover Solutions.
Jefferson National's in-house team responsible for the award-winning website and marketing campaign was led by COO David Lau, and included Frank Wheatley, Senior Web Architect; Mark Forman, Director of Online Marketing; Deborah Newman, Director of Communications; Nicole Gross, Director of Marketing Programs and Amber Mullaney, Marketing Manager.
