Take the "Annuity Rescue Challenge" with Jefferson National
Compare Virtually any Variable Annuity vs. First and Only Flat-Insurance Fee VA
New York, NY and Louisville, KY - June 19, 2007 - On a mission to help Americans save more for retirement, Jefferson National invites consumers to take the "Annuity Rescue Challenge" at https://advsior.jeffnat.com. Now consumers have a simple, unbiased online tool using the latest data from Morningstar® to compare virtually any competing variable annuity—985 different products from 117 companies—versus Jefferson National's Monument Advisor, the first and only variable annuity with a flat-insurance fee of $20 per month1 and the industry's broadest selection of more than 170 underlying tax-deferred funds.2
"Americans still need to save more for retirement and rescuing an overpriced annuity is one way to help," said Laurence Greenberg, President and CEO of Jefferson National Life Insurance Company. A conservative estimate based on Morningstar® data suggests that consumers with variable annuities are paying at least $15 billion each year in insurance fees alone.3
"We're so confident in the value of Monument Advisor that we've made it easier for consumers to compare us to every other competing VA on the market, so they can be sure they're saving the most for their retirement," said Greenberg. "On a $50,000 VA, Monument Advisor's flat-insurance fee of $20 per month is lower than 99% of all other VAs, so consumers can pay less in fees and accumulate more in their nest egg."4,5
Jefferson National's Annuity Comparison Calculator is easy to use and provides five illustrations to help consumers understand how much they can save, how much more their account value can grow, and the break-even period that can help consumers get over the "surrender hurdle."4 According to Morningstar®, Monument Advisor's flat-insurance fee of $20 per month is the market's absolute lowest on a contract of $100,000 or more.5
"Our average customer saves more than $2,655 in insurance fees each year6—and the real value becomes clear over a lifetime of retirement saving," concluded Greenberg. According to Morningstar, average annual insurance charges are 1.35%, or $3,375 on a $250,000 VA, versus Monument Advisor's flat-insurance fee of just $240 per year. Over 20 years, assuming market growth of 6% per year, this translates to cumulative insurance fees averaging $110,058 for a typical VA, versus just $4,800 for Monument Advisor—a savings of $105,258. By saving thousands each year with a flat-insurance fee, re-investing those assets at an assumed market growth rate of 6%, and allowing those extra earnings to compound tax-deferred over 20 years, the Monument Advisor customer could earn more than $172,480 in extra account value.
